Attire

We are targeting semi-formal attire, but if you know us then you know that we're not fussy about clothes so wear what you feel comfortable in. Want to dress it up a bit? Go for it! Want to forego the jacket and tie? Also fine! Just be careful with stilettos as the ceremony will be outside on a lawn.

Post-wedding brunch

Sunday, August 2, 2026
Time TBD

We will have a casual brunch/lunch the day after the wedding at Jean’s dad’s house in Baigorri. Come when you can; we expect people to filter in and out starting in the late morning. The village festival will be going on throughout the day and most events will be right across the street from the brunch so you will be able to go watch a performance and come back to grab a bite to eat.

Getting around

Travel to and within France

The nearest airport to the venue is Biarritz (BIQ) airport. Travel within France and Europe is very accessible by train; Biarritz and Bayonne are the closest train stations to the venue. It is sometimes faster and cheaper (and more ecological!) to fly into Paris or Toulouse and take the train.

Most cities will probably have rideshare apps including Bolt, Uber, and Lyft, although they may be harder to come by in smaller villages.

Travel to the wedding

We will provide shuttles between nearby villages (Dancharia, Ainhoa, Saint Pée) and the wedding venue. Please let us know where you will be staying so that we can arrange the shuttles to accommodate as many people as possible.

You may prefer to rent a car or take a taxi. Parking is available at the venue.

FAQ

How do I pronounce your names?
Jean: The French name "Jean" is closer to "John" than "Gene". The 'J' sounds like the 's' in measure; the 'ean' is similar to the ending of "John" but the 'n' isn't pronounced.

    Xian: "Shen"
Are children welcome?
    Yes, children are absolutely welcome!
What is the weather like?
The Basque country usually has mild summers (average 25°C/77°F during the day and 15°C/60°F at night), but be prepared for rain and occasional heat waves.
What kind of power adapter will I need?
France uses type C/E sockets and a standard voltage of 230 V. This is higher than in the US so be careful not to fry your appliances.
